Creating a Java keystore

When working with WebLogic server you will inevitably have to create some Java keystores along the way. The Java keytool or OpenSSL can accomplish most everything you would need to do but sometimes I like using something UI based to do some of the tasks. That is where a tool like KeyStore Explorer can come in quite handy.

Oracle WebCenter Content Licensing

I thought I would share out the following information because of how often it comes up. When dealing with Oracle WebCenter Content or WebCenter Imaging, it is good to know what restricted use licenses each product includes. The following guide from Oracle shows you what products are bundled together in the WebCenter Suite.

One Way ILINX® Manages Compound Documents

As part of the ECM industry, it is important to understand what compound documents are and how they affect you.  Compound documents have been an issue in ECM software from the beginning of time. According to wiseGEEK, Compound documents are document files that contain several different types of data as well as text. A compound document may include graphics, spreadsheets, images, or any other non-text data. The additional data may be embedded into the document or be linked data that is resident within the application. You may be asking what that means for you? We all know that basic ECM is scan/store/retrieve, but what happens when you add electronic documents in PDF or MS Word?

Oracle BPM 11g Install for a Development Environment

Who is finally ready to get off their laurels and start looking at Oracle BPM 11g? I knew I was, the question I had was: where do I start? I figured the best place to start would be to actually install the software. A special thanks to one of our Systems Engineer, Les Harris who helped in getting me going on installing the software. Oracle Imaging & Process Management – Oracle I/PM 11g

Oracle Imaging and Process Management 11g has been redesigned with JavaEE architecture to leverage Universal Content Management services for metadata and document storage.  We have installed 11g in our labs and everyone agrees that that modernized user interface and new web based administration UI is a step up from the 10gr3 release.  Additionally, the viewer has been re-written as a Java applet with cross browser/support that simplified the security model and improves usability.  The 11g release exposes images though website, portals and seamlessly integrates with all nearly all Oracle products excluding the HLLAPI connectors to the old JDE World/World Vision versions.  Understanding that may of these older JDE World/World Vision version  installations are still in production we would recommend 3rd party integrations using ILINX Integrate to allow data & images to pass effortlessly between two or more applications.  ILINX Integrate will retrieval and display  images with virtually any application regardless of source—host based, Windows, Web or Citrix—with ECM or other line-of-business systems including the older JDE World/World Vision applications.
With the launch of 11g,  IBPM 7.6 support is schedule to conclude June 2010 and 10gR3 (7.7) is supported until 2015.   For customers looking for detailed information about upgrading from earlier I/PM releases and implementing I/PM 11g, be sure to contact your ImageSource Representative or contact support at http://www.imagesourceinc.com/Support/ContactSupport/index.htm

Oracle IPM Load Balancing – Information Broker

I was recently working with a client troubleshooting several problematic areas in their Oracle IPM system.  This client is part of a large origination with hundreds of users that could be logged into the system at any given time.  With this much usage, the client was set up with several Info & Process Brokers. One of the symptoms that this client was seeing, primarily under heavy usage, was an uneven load balancing.
